Completed Projects
The following public facilities projects were funded, in part, with CDBG funds.
Douglas/Elbert Task Force (DETF)
A grant was awarded to the DETF to subsidize the acquisition of a building that will house all of the agencies services under one roof and allow for the expansion of services for residents who are in need, or at risk of homelessness. This acquisition will allow the DETF to provide more comprehensive services by providing expanded office space for volunteers to provide increased services and create the opportunity to offer classes that foster self-sufficiency (such as nutrition, cooking, budgeting, etc.). This facility would allow DETF to streamline their food bank operation and allow them to accept more donated items to be sold in the thrift store ultimately increasing the agencies revenues and allowing them to provide more clients with direct assistance.

Sungate Kids+3
A grant was awarded to Sungate Kids to complete construction of the interior of their new facility. This tenant finish will not only enable the organization to continue serving children who are victims of abuse and their non-offending family members, but will also allow them to expand the services they currently provide by creating a counseling center and a training area that can accommodate up to 50 participants. Sungate Kids has also received CDBG funding from Arapahoe County to help subsidize the cost of this tenant finish as they serve clients within multiple jurisdictions.

Women's Crisis and Family Outreach Center (WCFOC)
Grant funds were awarded to the WCFOC for engineering and architectural expenses associated with the construction of a community support center. The Center will include a new 26-bed emergency shelter serving victims of domestic violence. It will also enable WCFOC to improve services, such as individual and group therapy. This is the only facility of its kind serving Douglas County residents.
