Meetings and Agendas

The process of developing a Community Wildfire Protection Plan requires that Counties engage community members, community representatives, and other non-governmental stakeholders, and keep them engaged throughout the entire process, beginning early in the planning process. As such a communications and community involvement plan must be created that will:

  • Exhibit diverse collaboration with emphasis on involvement of community members/representatives.
  • Create opportunities for interested, non-governmental stakeholders to be regularly and actively involved in identifying community values to be protected, defining their wildland-urban interface area, identifying fuels treatment project areas and methods and priorities for action.

  • Encourage and actively pursue community member input at different stages of the planning process.

In the complete spirit of this intent, stakeholder meetings are being scheduled throughout the County for the fall of 2010 and spring of 2011. Each community stakeholder meeting will be scheduled and hosted by the local fire district. Community members are encouraged to attend.

DRAFT products will be posted on the website for review prior to the meetings. Members of the Core Team including representatives from the local fire protection district, Douglas County Wildfire Mitigation, Douglas County Office of Emergency Management, and The Colorado State Forest Service and the US Forest Service will be in attendance to present DRAFT products, gather input and answer questions.
