Mineral Interests

There has been a lot of interest about the Niobrara formation and how it impacts Douglas County residents. Click on this link for information regarding mineral interests, mineral leases, additional resources and instructions on how to determine if a property's mineral interests have been severed from the surface rights.

Senior Property Tax Exemptions for Tax Year 2011

Current economic conditions require that all levels of government make difficult decisions, and the State of Colorado has had to reduce or eliminate many programs in order to balance the budget. As a result, The Colorado Legislature eliminated funding for the Senior Homestead Exemption beginning in tax year 2009, which was reflected in tax bills for qualifying seniors in 2010 and 2011.

In spite of this suspension, the Assessor will continue to process new applications for the exemption program. Those who qualify for the first time in 2011 are encouraged to apply, and homeowners who have already been approved for the exemption need not reapply.
