Other text/information:
The Arts Center represents a decade of work by community members. The City created a path that led to providing a cultural venue that would meet these expectations and the Council agreed that the region’s demographics and ability to attract businesses to fuel economic growth required high-quality cultural offerings. These convictions were supported by formal studies commissioned by the City. In May 2008 voters approved a bond issue for $18.5 million to construct an arts center.
The Lone Tree Arts Center is committed to filling its theatre with a high level of premier productions and performances. In addition to being home to the Lone Tree Symphony Orchestra, the Arts Center plans to engage in an entirely new model for presenting performing arts regionally by collaborating with some of the Front Range’s premier performing arts companies to bring acclaimed productions to the Lone Tree stages.
Special programming for children and youth are a high priority for the Lone Tree Arts Center, which plans to have an extensive program for young people. Along with the award-winning City of Lone Tree Passport to Culture program, currently presented at the Lone Tree Recreational Center, the Arts Center plans to work closely with area dance, music and theatre companies to have effective and vibrant youth components. Children from local area schools typically travel to downtown Denver or Arvada to participate in such programs. The goal is to offer rich cultural programs in the South Metro area, and with the new facility, that will be possible.
