- 70 public parks - state and local - totaling more than 21 square miles
- more than 44 square miles of open space
- nearly 141 miles of the Pike National Forest
Approximately 89% of Douglas County residents live on 17% of the land and have the opportunity to enjoy the hiking, biking, equistrian activity, tennis and golf amenities so abundant in Douglas County and so representative of the Douglas County lifestyle.
Douglas County is home to three state parks – Chatfield State Park, Roxborough State Park and Castlewood Canyon State Park.
