Disaster Assistance Available for Small Businesses
Small, nonfarm businesses in the following counties are now eligible to apply for low-interest Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDLs) from the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). "The loans offset economic losses because of reduced revenues caused by adverse weather conditions that occurred in Yuma, Douglas and Elbert Counties. SBA eligibility covers both the economic impacts on businesses and dependent on farmers and ranchers that have suffered agricultural production losses caused by the disaster and businesses directly impacted by the disaster" announced Alfred E. Judd, Director of SBA's Disaster Field Operations Center.

Applicants may apply online using the Electronic Loan Application via SBA's secure web site. The deadline to apply for these loans is May 29, 2012.
Disaster loan information and application forms are also available from SBA by calling toll-free at (800) 659-2955, emailing disastercustomerservice@sba.gov, or visiting SBA's Disaster Loans website.

Arapahoe/Douglas Works to relocate effective July 26
Arapahoe/Douglas Works, the provider of no-cost employment assistance services to metro-area job seekers and businesses, will move its main office from Greenwood Village to 6974 South Lima Street in Centennial, effective July 26. The workforce center’s main office will be closed on Friday, July 22 and Monday, July 25 to complete the move. It will reopen to the public on July 26 at its new location. Westmoreland Coal Co. announced their new location for its Denver-area headquarters has been selected and will be located at the Meridian International Business Center, in the Maroon V building.

Polystrand (Gordon Holdings) has purchased a $14m, 120,000 sq ft building in the Highfield Business Park.

New Parkway To Relieve Congestion, Stimulate Growth
DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. -- The final section of the RidgeGate Parkway opened Monday.The last segment to open is a 3 1/2-mile, east-west corridor from Interstate 25 to Parker. Officials hope the new parkway will relieve traffic congestion on Lincoln Avenue between I-25 and Parker Road and provide economic development stimulus to the corridor.

County Scores High in Overall Health
Douglas County was found to be the overall most healthy County in Colorado according to a February 17, 2010 report issued by the University of Wisconsin's Population Health Institute and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Douglas County came in first with regards to the fewest people dying before the age of 75; the least number of days people report being in poor health; the fewest number of people reporting being in poor health; and the lowest rate of infants with low birth weight.
