Douglas County has the benefit of a major transportation corridor – Interstate 25 – running north/south through the County.  I-25 is a major mover of goods and people, allowing ease of access for your employees as well as connecting Douglas County with New Mexico, Texas and Mexico to the south, Wyoming, Montana and Canada via the interstate highway system to the north.  In addition, the Metro Denver area’s beltway runs through northern Douglas County and its major employment centers as C-470 and E-470, providing convenient commuting options for employees.

  • Recently improved and expanded interstate through Denver’s southeast corridor and into Douglas County; through Douglas County’s primary employment centers
  • Recently constructed light rail system serving Douglas County’s primary employment centers, connecting them with downtown Denver’s central business district and its associated cultural and entertainment amenities
  • Denver’s Regional Transportation District offers bus services to the northern and eastern areas of Douglas County, connecting employers and employees, as well as connecting Douglas County with other areas of the Metro Denver region
  • Carpools and vanpools are available to employees through the Denver Regional Council of Governments program – RideArrangers
  • Transit oriented development is at the forefront along the metropolitan area’s light rail transit line, and Douglas County is fortunate to have one out of the ground, and another planned for future development.  Lincoln Station TOD provides a vibrant mix of office, retail and residential first stop on metro area light rail system.
  • Douglas County has easy access to three airports for business travel and freight services:
    • Centennial Airport sits on Douglas County’s northern border, adjacent to the County’s major employment centers. Centennial is the third busiest general aviation airport in the nation, serving  corporate aircraft, air charter services, flying clubs and schools, law enforcement and Flight for Life.  The airport is an international facility with 24 hour US Customs, a 24/7 FAA control tower and all weather capability.
    • Denver International Airport is about 45 minutes northeast of Douglas County’s major employment centers.  As the primary airport serving the Metro Denver region, DIA’s 17 commercial carriers provide nonstop service to over 150 destinations, including 19 international destinations in Europe, Canada, Mexico and Central America.  A modern, efficient facility opened in 1995, DIA is the only major airport built in the United States in the past 25 years.
    • Colorado Springs Municipal Airport, also about 45 minutes south of Douglas County, handles over 2 million passengers annually.  It is served by eight commercial airlines and is also a general aviation facility.
  • The railroad lines of Union Pacific and Burlington Northern/Santa Fe run north/south through Douglas County and serves the County’s industrial areas.
