Colorado residents attending college in or out of state
A student who is registered to vote in Colorado will vote the ballot for the address at which they are registered. For example, a student who is living and attending college in Boulder but is registered to vote in Castle Rock will vote the Douglas County ballot. Similarly, a student attending college in another state will also vote their Douglas County ballot.
The student can request that their Douglas County ballot be sent to an address where they are attending school by signing up to receive a mail-in ballot. When voting by mail, a voter signature is required on the ballot envelope for the vote to be counted. It is illegal for a parent or spouse to sign the envelope on the voters behalf - doing so may result in a criminal investigation.
Voting in more than one county or state is a felony offense.
Out of state residents attending college in Colorado
Out of state students attending college in Colorado will vote the ballot for the address at which they are registered to vote in their home state. For example, a registered voter from Utah attending college in Colorado will vote their Utah ballot.
The student may also be able to contact the county in which they are registered to vote and sign up for a mail or absentee ballot and request that the ballot be forwarded to the Colorado address where they are attending school.
