Background

The First Call (formerly known as DCTS Rides) program started in August 2012. This program was made possible with grant funds from two Federal Transit Administration grants – the 5316 Job Access Reverse Commute (JARC) grant and the 5317 New Freedom grant. The JARC grant provides employment-related transportation for low-income residents. The New Freedom grant provides transportation services for persons with disabilities. Both programs are administered by the Douglas County Transit Solutions’ Local Coordinating Council. In addition to the additional transportation services that these programs provide, a new Call Center is also funded.
