Douglas County Housing Partnership,
a Multi-Jurisdictional Housing Authority.
We dedicate ourselves to creating and sustaining communities through innovative partnerships and entrepreneurial housing programs.
The Douglas County Housing Partnership (DCHP) was formed as a cooperative effort between businesses and local and county government to address the issue of the lack of affordable housing for people who work in the area.
The DCHP operates with financial support from the jurisdictions of the City of Lone Tree, the Town of Castle Rock, the Town of Parker and Douglas County as a political subdivision and public corporation of the state of Colorado.
Our Purpose
In 2000, a group of business leaders wrote a letter to the Douglas County Commissioners, asking them to take action to deal with the lack of affordable housing in the area. As a result of this letter, a task force was created with the purpose of creating a new agency to deal with the affordable housing issue in the county.
The DCHP, created in 2003, assists with the planning, financing, acquisition, construction, repair, maintenance, management and operation of housing projects and programs that provide low- and moderate-income families with the tools to achieve home ownership and affordable rental housing.
DCHP Programs
Home Ownership: The DCHP provides a free monthly six-hour home ownership class. This Colorado Housing and Finance Authority-approved class educates potential homebuyers on the home buying process.
Down Payment Assistance: The DCHP provides down payment assistance in the form of a second mortgage for working families or individuals in Douglas County. The funds can be utilized for down payment, closing costs and prepaid items. The agency works with area lenders who originate the first mortgage in conjunction with the down payment assistance of up to $20,000 for those who qualify.
Rental Housing Development and Ownership: The DCHP develops and operates individually, and with select for-profit developers, rental housing in Douglas County. The units are developed utilizing a variety of funding sources.
