Castlewood Canyon State Park Trail System

Highlights: Canyon cut into grassland plains by Cherry Creek. Castle Rock conglomerate formations are available for rock climbing. Ponderosa pines, Douglas firs and Gambel oak predominate. Willows and other riparian plants grow along creek.

Trail Rating: Easy to moderate.

Trail Length: Several miles in canyon area.

Trail Surface: Concrete in upper overlook areas and natural surface into canyon.

Uses: Hiking only; mountain bikes and horses are not permitted; dogs on leash O.K.

Amenities: Visitor center, restrooms, picnic shelters, picnic tables, programs and hikes offered.

Location: From Franktown, take Parker Road (Highway 83) south 4.5 miles to park entrance on the right.
