County seeks public input for Countywide Economic Development Plan
A collaborative, countywide Economic Development Plan is the ultimate goal of the Douglas County Economic Development Forum, hosted by the Douglas County Commissioners on Tuesday, April 5, from 7:30 – 11:00 a.m., at The Wildlife Experience in Parker.
“Since late last year Economic Development leaders countywide have been discussing the feasibility of The Forum while the Commissioners were simultaneously soliciting input from a representative sample of the entire business community about the business climate here and how best to improve upon it, ” said County Commissioner Jill Repella, Chair of the Board of County Commissioners. The Forum will include the presentation of the countywide Business Owner and Manager survey results by Dr. David Hill, of Hill Research Consultants, who will also provide an analysis of the findings relative to the Denver Metro region, the state of Colorado and the Nation.
The central focus of the Forum will be the facilitation of dialog and information exchange among a diverse group of stakeholders in Douglas County whose input will contribute to the countywide Economic Development plan.

"Bottom Up" Economic Development Strategy Template [73KB]
As part of the State of Colorado's "Bottom Up" Economic Development strategy, Governor Hickenlooper is requesting that each County develop or update its economic development plan based on current input from local citizens, businesses and other interested stakeholders. The objective of the county plan is to identify up to five economic development goals and strategies of the county, utilizing information gathered from the online public survey, the public county meetings and comments, and the most current economic development plans in the county (town, city, or county). These county plans will be rolled up and incorporated into fourteen regional plans that together will assist in developing an overall statewide economic development plan. A template has been provided by the state to aid in the creation of the plan.
