Rebate funds have been depleted.

Douglas County's Energy Efficiency Rebate Program has been very successful with many residents benefiting from the $200,000 in rebate funds. This program was available on a first-come, first-served basis until funds were depleted. The $200,000 in rebate funds were made available through the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant that was funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

You may be eligible for other rebates. Please visit www.RechargeColorado.com for more information.

Traffic Signal System Upgrades

Douglas County and the City of Lone Tree maintain a proactive traffic signal coordination strategy to help minimize delays, emissions, and fuel consumption; however, energy savings are not as significant as they could be due to unreliable and outdated traffic signal equipment.

Land Use Regulation & Building Code Review Regarding Energy Efficiency

Douglas County recognizes that land use patterns play a critical role in determining a community's ability to be energy efficient. One of the first steps in helping the community to become more energy efficient is to determine if the County is inadvertently creating barriers to energy efficiency within its regulations.

Douglas County will use EECBG funds to hire a consultant team that will review the County's land use regulations related to energy efficiency. The consultant will provide a full analysis and summary report to the Planning Commission and Board of County Commissioners detailing any impediments to energy efficiency and sustainability.

If partnerships with County jurisdictions and other funds become available, Douglas County will work with the consultant to perform a comprehensive review of all land use regulations used throughout Douglas County.

Project Timeline:
This project is expected to begin in late 2010/early 2011.
