Chase Drain Requests in the Hearth/Firelight Homeowners Association (HOA’s)
In Spring/Summer of 2007, the Douglas County Public Works/Engineering Division began to receive an overwhelming amount of requests for chase drains. Over 250 chase drain requests were received by the County during this time. A geotechnical consultant was hired to complete a study of the area in order to try and determine the cause of the excessive surface water that was being reported in this area and possible solutions to address the neighborhood concern.
The Douglas County Public Works/Engineering Division has also completed a brochure outlining action items homeowners can take to help alleviate the amount of water flowing over sidewalks/driveways, necessitating the installation of the chase drains. The brochure will be mailed to all homeowners in the Firelight and Hearth HOA’s. The Douglas County Public Works/Engineering Division asks that all homeowners comply with the recommendations outlined in this brochure.
