US-85 / C-470 Interchange Reconstruction Project Update (updated January 25, 2011)
The Contractor is significantly ahead of schedule opened the southbound US 85 to eastbound C-470 flyover ramp on Monday, December 12, 2011.

Phase I - Planned improvements included constructing a southbound U.S. 85 to eastbound C-470 flyover ramp, and adding a continuous eastbound C -470 auxiliary lane between U.S. 85 and Lucent Boulevard. Additionally, the Phase I improvements included constructing a grade separated crossing of the C -470 multi-modal path over Erickson Boulevard. On April 10, 2010, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) awarded a construction contract to Edward Kraemer and Sons for the Phase I improvements. The construction began in late June 2010, and completion of the project is anticipated to occur in January 2012.
The Phase I Improvements were funded jointly by Douglas County, Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG), CDOT and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). US 85 and C-470 are both regionally significant transportation corridors that provide essential mobility to the Denver metropolitan area. This interchange is located near the jurisdictional boundary of three Colorado counties (Arapahoe, Douglas, and Jefferson Counties), and it is a regional priority project for the local agencies, CDOT and DRCOG.
Phase I Construction Funding Summary
Phase II - Planned improvements to the U.S. 85 corridor include the need for replacing the U.S. 85 bridge over C -470, expanding U.S. 85 from four to six lanes between County Line Road and Blakeland, and the addition of a bicycle and pedestrian underpass to carry the C -470 Trail under U.S. 85. No funding has been allocated for constructing Phase II improvements, but CDOT and Douglas County are working together to advance the Final Design for Phase II.
