Board of County Commissioners

Lobbying

The Douglas County Board of Commissioners recognizes that to fully represent Douglas County’s interests during state and national-level policy debates on issues that impact local government, there must be a level of participation in the halls of government in Denver and in Washington, D.C.  As such the County has an in-house lobbyist and retains contract lobbyists to help represent the County’s interests in economic development, natural resources, human services, public lands, transportation, and public safety.

By state law, all those who lobby on behalf of Douglas County must file income and expenditures reports with the Secretary of State.

Douglas County is a member of the National Association of Counties (NACo), the only national organization that represents county governments before the Administration and Congress. To learn more about NACo and the legislative priorities of this national association, please visit National Association of Counties (NACo)

Douglas County is also a member of Colorado Counties, Inc., the state association representing Colorado Counties at the state capitol.  To learn more visit Colorado Counties.

The membership dues paid in 2023 for CCI total $65,000. For the National Association of Counties membership dues total $2,505.
