The following is a listing of some events of interest to veterans. Some, such as parades, occur and reoccur on various dates. Others are on fixed dates and may be one-time activities. Check local media or contact the organization identified with an event or the Douglas County Office of Veterans Affairs, veterans_services@douglas.co.us. (Yearly events are in italics).

- January 14 - February 4 (Thursdays)
The Osher Life Learning Institute will present four 2-hour session classes beginning January 14 and ending February 14, 2010. The class will feature videos and live personal stories from veterans who were in the biggest battle of WWII.

- January 30 - Battle of the Bulge Veterans
11:00 a.m.
A meeting with a "Dutch Treat" lunch, will be held at the Country Buffet Restaurant, 7475 Park Meadows Drive, Littleton (Quebec / 470). Open to all Battle of the Bulge Veterans.

February 13, 2010 11:00 Women Marine Anniversary Celebration
The Women Marines Association Colorado Columbine - WM History Chapter will host the 67th Anniversary of Women Marines.
There will be a 50/50 drawing, color guard presentation, cake cutting, and special art exhibit featuring Women Marines.
The guest speaker will be active duty Lt. Col. Sheila Scanlon who currently commands the ROTC program at Colorado University in Boulder.
The cost is $20 per person and everyone is welcome to attend the celebration and show their support. The money will be collected at the door. Seating is limited for this event so if you plan to attend please RSVP to Paula Sarlls at paulasarlls@comcast.net or 303-766-9023.

- June 14 - Flag Day
Flag Day, is a day for all American to celebrate and show respect for our flag, its designers and makers. Our flag is representative of our independence and our unity as a nation....one nation, under God, indivisible. Our flag has a proud and glorious history. It was at the lead of every battle fought by Americans. Many people have died protecting it. It even stands proudly on the surface of the moon.
As Americans, we have every right to be proud of our culture, our nation, and our flag. So raise the flag today and every day with pride!
