Description:
The pottery bottle is a mahogany in color . The cylindrical measurements from the base to where the shoulder branches out measures 8 inches. On the body of the bottle, there are two separate sets of ridges. Starting at the base, there are a series of six raised ridges. From that set of ridges to the second set of ridges on the body, there are five additional ridges. There are 5 inches between both sets on the body. The shoulder tapers into the short neck. The neck has a raised ring about one inch from the shoulder. The flared lip has an indented ridge for pouring. The bore is 5/8 inch in diameter. The circumfrance of the bottle is 11 1/2 inches.
The Johnson, Whitmore & Company of Akron, Ohio became Whitmore, Robinson Company from 1862 to 1900. They merged with E.H. Merrill and became Robinson—Merrill Company in 1902. This bottle was most likely manufacturered by Robinson—Merrill Company.
