Description:
This is an Austrian-made Garibaldi rifle. During the Civil War, Federal government agencies purchased large quantities of foreign guns. The Garibaldi was an old .71 caliber tube-lock gun, converted to percussion and rifled with twelve grooves after importation to the United States. It used a conical cartridge.
