Description:
Helicon ( bass Horn ) in E flat with reproduction case, brass with modern mouthpiece ( 2 ea. mouthpiece). Military cavalry instrument used in the west by mounted troops. Round civil War emblem (2in.) featuring an eagle on the bell ,a scroll or banner is reaching out of the eagles beak in which a worn most likely latin phrase is embossed ( PLURIBUS and the last word is to worn to identify) above that banner are 13 stars. A Union shield is located on the breast of the eagle, the talons are holding olive branches (?) on one side and arrows on the other. Ed Hoppe in small print is located at the bottom of the circular emblem.
Under the emblem is the following stamped verbage;
