County Announces Temporary Permit Fee Waivers

Douglas County will waive the cost of building permit fees, as well as low impact GESC permit fees and administrative subdivision application fees from July 1 – September 30, 2009 for qualifying projects.  Due to statutory requirements, use tax must be assessed and collected.

The Permit Fee Waiver Program covers the following improvements to existing single-family homes:

  • Basement Finishes
  • Kitchen Renovations
    • Including Plumbing, Heating and Electrical
  • Bathroom Renovations
    • Including Plumbing, Heating and Electrical
  • Conversion of attached garage to living space or other approved use
    • Interior Plumbing upgrades or changes
  • Interior electrical upgrades or changes
  • Interior plumbing upgrades or changes
  • Residential demolition when such structure is not deemed to have historical significance
  • Residential landscape/irrigation systems (backflow preventer installation)
  • Residential Driveway Permits
  • Low-Impact GESC permits
  • Development Review fees
  • Special Events Permits
  • Low Impact GESC review fee
  • Home Occupation – class two permit
  • Building Envelope Adjustment
  • Lot Line Vacation
  • Lot Line Adjustment


The permit fee waiver program excludes complex projects that require detailed plan view such as new homes, additions, garages, and new structures such as a gazebo. Projects requiring plan review for engineering and structural modifications are also excluded.
