The Spencer property has been used for agricultural purposes since the area was first settled around 1870. To protect the agricultural integrity of the land, the landowner placed it in a conservation easement. The property will continue to be used as grazing land, and the easement will serve to protect the mixed grass prairie and mountain shrub land ecosystems within the property. The Spencer property serves as important wildlife habitat and migration routes for a number of game species, including elk, pronghorn, mule deer, and black bear. Mountain lion, bobcat, coyote, and wild turkey have also been reported in the area.
There is no public access to Spencer. It remains in private ownership.
