Persons with Developmental Disabilities Need You

Three volunteers needed for County’s Developmental Disabilities Mill Levy Advisory Council.

Are you a resident of Douglas County with a heart to serve Douglas County residents with developmental disabilities?

If so, you may be a candidate for one of three open seats on the Douglas County Developmental Disabilities Mill Levy Advisory Council, the annual review committee for grant applications from organizations seeking funds for local programs supporting residents with Developmental Disabilities. Your application is due by September 25.

The Grant Program, an outcome of the 2001 voter-approved Douglas County Mill Levy, has resulted in more than $3 million awarded to local programs supporting individuals with developmental disabilities since 2002. About 95 percent of the Mill Levy Fund supports the County’s community-centered board, Developmental Pathways, while the remaining five percent is set aside for the Grant Program.

Douglas County Mill Levy Grant Funds are used to support projects and services that demonstrate innovative and collaborative projects or programs in six areas: Life in Common, Housing, Transportation, Employment, Recreation/Leisure, and Health.
