The Slash/Mulch site helps residents minimize fire hazards

To help residents clear their properties of dead tree branches and shrubbery, Douglas County operate a slash/mulch site on Saturdays from Memorial Day through Labor Day each year.  

Acceptable items are tree branches and shrubbery with a maximum length of 6 ft. and maximum diameter of 12 inches. All loads when brought in must be covered and tied down. Stumps, roots, lumber, ties, grass, dirt, household trash, appliances and weeds are NOT accepted.

Douglas County and the Wildfire Mitigation Specialists encourage property owners to use this opportunity to perform mitigation work and reduce hazardous fuels on their land. Douglas County Wildfire Mitigation Specialists offer free site visits to determine the safety of a property at no cost, upon request.
