Highlands Ranch Transportation Improvement Program
Douglas County, working with CH2M HILL, has completed an in-depth study of the transportation facilities within Highlands Ranch. The study reviewed traffic volumes, accidents and citizen concerns in the area from US 85 to the west, Lone Tree on the east, County Line Road on the north and the open space on the south, and included an analysis of the major intersections and roadways using both the existing traffic and projected traffic volumes for 2030. For each problem area, a variety of solutions were tested with the final recommendations included in the document "Final HRTIP Report".
The study process included receiving input from a Technical Leadership Team and an Executive Leadership Team representing Douglas County, Colorado Department of Transportation, Regional Transportation District, Denver Regional Council of Governments, Highlands Ranch Metropolitan District, Highlands Ranch Community Association, Highlands Ranch Chamber of Commerce, and from interested citizens throughout the eleven months of study.
Although the final report identifies the short-term and long-range needs of the area for improvements to the transportation system, no funding method was included in the study.
