TRAFFIC CALMING AND PEDESTRIAN SAFETY ENHANCEMENT PROJECTS

Monarch Restriping and Driveway Congestion Improvements Project:
This project is anticipated to be completed prior to the beginning of the 2012/2013 school year.
Douglas County School District will make driveway capacity improvements allowing Douglas County to do restriping and signal modifications to improve congestion and capacity of traffic entering into Rocky Heights Middle School during drop-off and pick-up times.
Ridgeglen Way Sidewalk and Pedestrian Crossing Project:
This project is anticipated to be completed prior to the beginning of the 2012/2013 school year.
A crossing will be constructed for the Northridge Trail crossing across Ridgeglen Way. Widened sidewalk access, ADA compliant curb ramps along with a marked and signed crossing for all trail users will be installed.
Gateway Drive Sidewalk and Pedestrian Crossing Project:
This project is anticipated to be completed prior to the beginning of the 2012/2013 school year.
A crossing will be constructed for the Kistler Trail crossing across Gateway Drive. Widened sidewalk access, ADA compliant curb ramps along with a marked and signed crossing for all trail users will be installed.
Roxborough– Village Circle West Sidewalk and Pedestrian Crossing Project:
Completed March 2012
Installation of pedestrian activated flashing beacons at the school crossing. The installation of these flashers provides enhanced visibility for students and pedestrians crossing Village Circle West. Students and pedestrians cross Village Circle West to attend Roxborough Primary school, catch busses to other schools and to access park and recreational facilities to the south. The enhanced crossing provides better visibility and warns drivers that pedestrians may be crossing at all times.
Acres Green Sidewalk and Pedestrian Crossing project (Phase 3):
This project is anticipated to be completed prior to the beginning of the 2012/2013 school year.
Phase 3, the final phase, of the Acres Green Pedestrian Improvements will include the remainder of the missing sidewalk along the north side of Maximus, widening of sidewalk on Acres Green Dr and an enhance crossing at the school crossing on Acres Green.
RECENTLY COMPLETED PROJECTS
Roxborough – Village Circle West Sidewalk and Pedestrian Crossing Project:
Completed August 2011
Construction of missing sidewalk along the north side of Village Circle West and improved curb ramps provides a safe walking route for school children and pedestrians from the trail east to the school crossing.
Acres Green Sidewalk and Pedestrian Crossing Project (Phase 2):
Completed August 2011
Phase 2 of the Acres Green Pedestrian Improvements were completed in August 2011 and included construction of missing sidewalk along the north side of Maximus and construction of an enhanced crossing and roadway neckdown at the school crossing.
Stonegate Parkway & Keystone Boulevard School Crossing Project:
Completed August 2011
An enhanced crossing on the south side of Stonegate and Keystone was completed allowing for a larger area for students to gather, reduction of the crossing distance and better visibility of both pedestrians and vehicles.
Poston Parkway & Windridge Circle School Crossing:
Completed August 2011
Construction was completed for a concrete pad to provide a larger area for students to gather on the north east corner of Poston and Windridge.
Ramapart Range Rd and Titan Road –Highline Canal Trail Enhanced Crossing:
Completed April 2012
To enhance the safety for the Highline Canal Trail crossings at Titan and Rampart Range Roads have had Pedestrian/Equestrian activated flashing beacons have been installed.
Hyacinth Road & Spring Gulch Trail Crossing Project:
Completed September 2011
To enhance the safety for pedestrians the crossing on Hyacinth Road at Spring Gulch Trail has been enhanced with construction of widened sidewalk, ADA compliant curb ramps and to improve the visibility of the crossing signs and markings were installed.
