Two Commissioners take the Oath of Office

In one of the first official actions of 2017, Roger Partridge and Lora Thomas, took the oath of office and were sworn-in as Douglas County Commissioners on Tuesday, January 10.

Partridge, re-elected to his second term as County Commissioner District II in November 2016, and Thomas, elected for her first term as County Commissioner District III, also in November 2016, took the oath of office at the Phillip S. Miller Building in Castle Rock in front of family, friends, supporters and County employees.

In other actions at the Commissioners’ first Business Meeting following the swearing-in ceremony, Partridge was appointed 2017 Douglas County Commissioners Board Chair. Former Board Chair, David Weaver, was appointed 2017 Vice Chair.

In addition to his fundamental responsibilities as 2017 Board Chair for the Douglas County Commissioner, Mr. Partridge also serves as a representative of Douglas County by way of Board appointment to the Castle Rock Economic Development Council; C-470 Corridor Coalition; Denver Regional Council of Governments; Denver South Economic Development Partnership; E-470 Public Highway Authority; Northwest Douglas County Oil & Gas Economic Impact Committee; Southern Shooting Partnership and on the Denver South I-25 Urban Corridor Transportation Management Authority.

Partridge also serves on statewide and national organizations specific to transportation, water, land use, transportation, public safety, agriculture and rural affairs.

In addition to her responsibilities as a Douglas County Commissioner, Ms. Thomas also serves as a representative of Douglas County by way of Board appointment to the following area organizations: Cherry Creek Basin Water Quality Control Authority; Douglas County Youth Initiative Advisory Committee; Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation; Northwest Douglas County Economic Development Corporation; and the Urban Drainage and Flood Control District.

Thomas also serves as the Colorado Counties, Inc. Steering Committee appointee for the: General Government Committee, Taxation and Finance Committee and the Tourism and Economic Development Committee.

Commissioners Partridge, Weaver and Thomas share in the Board’s responsibility for the County’s seat on the Douglas County Fair Board, and as members of the Partnership of Douglas County Governments, Denver South Economic Development Partnership, and the Metro Area County Commissioners.
