Online Filing Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I file my declaration on-line?

There are several reasons why you would want to file your declaration on-line:

  1. Less paperwork for your office.
  2. This tool is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  3. It is more secure than any other form of filing and confirmation is emailed upon submission.
  4. This tool allows the Assessor’s Office to process your declaration return more efficiently.
  5. Saves money on postage.

What if my asset list hasn’t changed from last year?

Visit www.DouglasFilesOnline.org and enter your FEIN and Account Number, view your assets and select the “Submit Asset List” button. No further action is necessary.  You may also check the “No Changes” box on your postcard notification and mail it back to our office.

What if I can’t log in?

If your FEIN is not recognized, it may be registered incorrectly in the system OR it may not be on file in our office. This problem can be solved by calling (303) 660-7448. If you prefer email, please contact us at [email protected].

My company is a Lease Company, can I still file on-line?

YES!  The online tool is a fast and accurate means for reporting leased assets, and you may also obtain an asset list and/or location list by account number.   In addition, it is easy to submit an attachment as either backup –or the filing itself.  To use the on-line filing application you will need to have your FEIN and account numbers available.

My business is new; can I add my assets with the on-line filing application?

Yes, you may email the Assessor your company’s FEIN to [email protected], account number and contact information (contact person name, title, and phone number) on company letterhead. We will add it to our database within 48 hours.

If I file on-line, do I also need to mail a copy to the Assessor’s Office?

You should file EITHER a paper declaration or an on-line declaration, but not both.
