Renew your license plates this weekend in a grocery store – as well as daily from 5 a.m. to midnight.
Timely license plate renewal has never been easier, more convenient and faster in Douglas County now that a Colorado MVExpress self-serve kiosk is located in the King Soopers Cottonwood Plaza location at Parker Road and Cottonwood Drive in Parker.
This is the third MVExpress location in Douglas County, but the first kiosk in a location independent of a dedicated, formal Motor Vehicle services facility.
“Our constituents are investing in their own personal technology, and on par with their investment, as a local government we are wise when we do the same, and then leverage technology to deliver services faster and more conveniently,” said Douglas County Clerk and Recorder, Merlin Klotz.”
Now, in addition to the locations in Douglas County, these and the more than 20 MVExpress kiosks are also available to residents of Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, El Paso, Freemont, Jefferson, La Plata, Larimer, Mesa and Weld counties. Additional counties may authorize kiosk transactions for residents later this year. Finding your nearest motor vehicle kiosk is a close as your smart phone.
Three Things to know before visiting a MVExpress Kiosk:
- If your vehicle requires an emissions test, please complete it at least two business days before using a kiosk.
- If you have recently changed or updated your auto insurance, please wait four business days before using a kiosk.
- If your grace period for your renewal has ended, you will be unable to renew your license plates using a kiosk. Please visit one of our three Motor Vehicle locations in Douglas County in Castle Rock, Highlands Ranch, and Lone Tree.
The MVExpress kiosks are bright yellow and blue machines, similar in size to an ATM. When use of a kiosk is an eligible option for you, simply type your license plate number on the touch screen or scan the barcode on your renewal postcard; then, pay by check, credit or debit card. The kiosk will produce your registration and license plate tabs immediately.
