Statement from the Douglas County Board of Health on November 24, 2021
Based upon multiple inquires, we want to affirm there is no mask mandate in Douglas County. Further, our current Public Health Order requires places of public accommodation that are requiring masks to provide exemptions to individuals for health reasons. The County’s Public Health Order does not apply to the School District.

Nov. 12, 2021 – PUBLIC HEALTH ORDER ALLOWING EXEMPTIONS FROM FACIAL COVERINGS AND PREVENTING QUARANTINING OF ASYMPTOMATIC INDIVIDUALS

Pursuant to C.R.S. §§ 25-1-506 and 508, the Douglas County Health Department (“DCHD”) hereby issues this countywide Public Health Order: allowing certain individuals to be exempted from requirements to wear a Face Covering within Douglas County and making it impermissible in most cases to quarantine an individual within Douglas County due to actual, suspected or potential exposure related to COVID-19 if the individual is asymptomatic. The goal and purpose of this Order is to ensure that efforts to control and slow the spread of the SARSCoV-2 virus (the SARSCoV-2 and the disease resulting therefrom shall be referred to herein as “COVID-19”) are calibrated to produce the greatest health benefit to the people targeted by such efforts and to the entire Douglas County community.  The County’s Public Health Order does not apply to the School District

Oct. 26, 2021 – Statement from the Douglas County Board of Health in response to the Oct. 26 ruling by U.S. District Judge regarding the Board’s recent public health order:

Oct. 26, 2021 – Statement from the Douglas County Board of Health in response to the Oct. 26 ruling by U.S. District Judge regarding the Board’s recent public health order:

“We respectfully disagree with the court’s decision to issue a temporary restraining order. We remain confident that when we have more time to make a full case we will be able to demonstrate that the Douglas County Board of Health struck the proper balance of public health protection and parental involvement in health care decisions for their children. Our Order allowed the school district to continue its mask mandate even though the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment lifted its statewide mask mandate for students in July. We would continue to encourage the Douglas County Board of Education to make partners of all parents in decisions that fundamentally impact their children.”

Oct. 26, 2021 – A Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) prohibits enforcement of this Public Health Order as it pertains to the Douglas County School District:
