Help Yourself. Skip the Line at the DMV in Castle Rock

New self-serve motor vehicle renewal kiosk introduced at Douglas County Motor Vehicle Office in Castle Rock-only.

Douglas County residents can now renew their vehicle registration at a self-service kiosk thanks to a pilot program recently launched at the County’s Motor Vehicle Office in Castle Rock.

The new technology is expected to reduce wait time for those renewing their license plates and build capacity in motor vehicle staff to assist customers with more complex title and registration transactions.

Resembling an ATM machine, the bright yellow and blue self-serve kiosk is available from 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. in the lobby of the Douglas County Wilcox Building, 301 Wilcox Street in downtown Castle Rock. As with other motor vehicle services offered in this facility, the stand-alone kiosk will serve Douglas County residents only.

“The citizens of Douglas County have shown us by their investment in personal technology that this is the right decision, at the right time, for all the right reasons,” said Merlin Klotz, Douglas County Clerk and Recorder. “Touch-screens are used on a daily basis in many other transactions during the day at the grocery store, the bank, the airport and even for movie rentals,” Klotz said. We will evaluate this first pilot roll-out of the kiosk at our Castle Rock Motor Vehicle Office and look to expand the service elsewhere in the County in the coming months,” he said.

To use the kiosk, type in your license plate number using the touch screen. Pay taxes and fees via cash, check or credit card. The kiosk will produce a printed receipt, your registration and license plate tabs immediately.
