Another school year is just around the corner, and not everyone may be ready.

School supplies, clothing and other necessities can create a financial hurdle for already-stressed household budgets. Some families simply don’t have the extra money.

That’s why the Strive to Thrive Resource Fair was created. This free biannual event, hosted by Douglas County’s Community of Care Network, will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, at Southeast Christian Church, 9650 Jordan Road, in Parker.

The event provides school supplies, food and nutrition assistance, back-to-school physicals, emergency assistance applications, employment opportunities and more to Douglas County families and residents experiencing hard times.

No appointment or registration is required to attend the fair and connect with more than 20 area organizations on site that have a desire to help. Preregistration is required for those who seek school supplies and back-to-school physical exams.

Transportation to the event is available by calling 720-515-8814 before 5 p.m. on Monday, July 25.

For more information, visit Douglas County’s Community of Care Network. Those interested in donating toward school supplies can learn more through the Foundation for Douglas County Schools.
