Black metal auto or truck tool/ trunk, exterior mount. Paint may not be original but in good condition. The interior bottom of the trunk is pine board, looks to have been replaced at some point. Exterior base is of oak and maybe original as there are several period flathead screws attaching it to the pine interior newer base. Both side carrying handles are not original but have been replaced by handles off something else from that period. One has wire holding it together.
Both original hardware locks are gone and have been replaced by several contemporary padlocking hardware.
The tie—downs used to secure the trunk to the vehicle look to have been replaced or added. The brass corner protectors are original. Interior rubber seal is brittle and breaking apart.
