Do you and your neighbors want to help encourage responsible pet-ownership in unincorporated Douglas County? If so, and you have time, Douglas County would like to hear from you regarding proposed revisions to the Douglas County Resolution for the Control and Licensing of Dogs and Household Pets. Originally passed in 1998 and amended in 1999, we’ve learned a lot in the past 20 years about the County’s pet population, pet owners and others in the community who co-exist with our furry friends.
Specifically, the proposed updates to the Resolution will:
- Create consistency between the Animal Resolution and Douglas County Zoning Resolution
- Protect public safety and the safety of animals
- Define an objective standard for noisy pets and create a consistent process to resolve issues
There are two ways you can include your voice in this decision. 1 . Visit www.dcsheriff.net/animals for a copy of the resolution’s proposed amendments, a fact sheet, and an online comment form; or 2) attend the October 18 Public Workshop from 6 – 7:30 p.m., 100 Third Street, 1st floor Hearing Room, Castle Rock, CO 80104.
