Palmer Divide Avenue Paving Project

Project Description

This project will consist of the re-profiling and paving of a section of Palmer Divide Avenue beginning at East Thunder Road.  See the Project Map for the specific location of the project.

Palmer Divide Avenue lies on the southern boundary of Douglas County, with the maintenance of the road shared between Douglas and El Paso County, however, the section included in this project is maintained by Douglas County.  Paving of the current gravel road will reduce maintenance needs and will support increased traffic on this section from the adjacent proposed development.  The road will remain open during construction, but delays are expected.

Work is scheduled to begin in mid-September and take one month to complete.  Construction will be performed Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Will Palmer Divide Avenue be closed during construction?
The plan is for Palmer Divide Avenue to remain open through the construction project.  Flaggers will control traffic and short delays may occur within the construction zone.  Alternate routes are advised.
