Chambers Road Widening Project – Lincoln to Mainstreet

Project Description

The Chambers Road Widening Project involves widening 1.43 miles of Chambers Road between Lincoln Avenue and Mainstreet from two to four lanes.  Construction began in summer 2018 and should be substantially completed and open to traffic before August 24, 2019.

In addition to widening the east side of Chambers Road, also included in this project is the installation of a new permanent traffic signal at South Cosmopolitan Circle, milling and overlay of the existing west side of Chambers, and construction of a 10-foot multi use trail. Additionally, the Project included constructing a new southbound to westbound right turn lane at the Lincoln / Chambers intersection, as well as restriping southbound Chambers to accommodate a dedicated right, double lefts and two thru lanes at this intersection. Thus far, the contractor has completed the storm drainage system, installed curb and gutter, sidewalk placement, and traffic signal installation; as well as placed the bottom two lifts of asphalt.

No work 8/11/19. Contractor will be working in the middle of the Chambers Road project. Northbound and southbound traffic will be to the outside lanes of Chambers Road. Contractor may take a Southbound right lane at the Lincoln Ave./Chambers Rd. intersection from 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.  We currently anticipate the project will be substantially complete and open with two lanes of thru traffic in each direction by August 24.
