The Douglas County Recording Office is a walk-in facility for passports between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Applicants are advised that the average wait time for passport applications is approximately two hours, so please come prepared to wait for at least that amount of time. All applicants, including children, applying for a passport must be present when called. If for some reason the application cannot be accepted, applicants will be asked to correct the issue and return to our office at a later date.
During peak times the demand for passports can exceed our ability to process applications in a timely manner. When that occurs acceptance hours will be ended before 3 p.m. and notice will be provided on our website and in the building. Regardless of the circumstance, the staff cannot extend the passport acceptance hours past 3 p.m.
We apologize for any inconvenience this causes and ask that when planning to come in on a day when schools are out of session that you come prepared to wait at least two hours. Please double check that you have all the required documents and information prior to applying for a passport by contacting us at 303.660.7446 or email at [email protected]
