As a foster parent, you have an opportunity to change a child’s future. If you have considered foster care, learn more and ask questions at one of three upcoming virtual informational meetings. You’ll hear from Collaborative Foster Care staff and a current foster family.
The meetings are:
-Monday, Aug. 22: 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
-Saturday, Sept. 10: 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
-Monday, Sept. 19: 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Preregistration is required for all meetings and can be completed online. Meetings are held monthly throughout the year.
Douglas County joined Collaborative Foster Care in 2012. The three-county partnership among Douglas, Arapahoe and Jefferson counties is committed to assuring foster parents have adequate training, support, and resources to promote the child’s best interest.
Collaborative Foster Care has a primary goal of reunification because research indicates youth have a better chance at success when they are with family. In 2021, 1,111 children were successfully reunited with family.
As a Foster Parent, you would meet the day-to-day needs of the youth in your care until they can return home, emancipate or are adopted.
You can also support Collaborative Foster Care through donations, sponsorships and volunteering. Visit their web page to learn more.
