Older Adult Initiative

What does it mean to age well in Douglas County? We’re continuing to engage with you on this topic in 2024.

As our aging population grows, we want to better support the needs of our residents so that you can stay independent and thriving in Douglas County all the way into the golden years.

We will be hosting Older Adult Roadshows in communities across Douglas County from June to August. Check back for dates and locations soon!

We kicked off this initiative in March 2023 with a Live Town Hall. So that we could learn more, you attended more than a dozen listening sessions and participated in an online survey throughout 2023. Four main priorities emerged – affordable housing, transportation, in-home services, and access to information.

These priorities and proposed action steps were discussed during a Live Town Hall in February 2024. Additional community meetings are being planned for summer 2024. Make sure to sign up below to stay informed.
