July 29, 2020
Nearly five months ago we learned of our first COVID-19 case in Douglas County.
Before that day and each day since we have been working with our Tri-County Health Department and you, fighting a common enemy we cannot see, yet one that has and will continue to impact the lives of individuals and families, as well as businesses large and small in our communities.
Here’s the good news. As of this date among our population of more than 370,000 there are only nine hospitalizations. This is thanks in part to the hard work of everyone in Douglas County taking personal responsibility for reducing the spread of COVID-19.
Looking ahead, to ensure preparedness for the remainder of the year, just yesterday we approved more than $3 million in CARES Act funds for community testing and case investigation/contact tracing to assist in the containment of local COVID-19 transmission in Douglas County, in partnership with Tri-County Health Department and Stride Community Health Center.
Thank you for continuing to do your part to keep our communities healthy. Working together we can reduce the spread of COVID-19. Working together as a community can lead to us thinking more like a community, healing as a community and maintaining our place, as one of the healthiest communities in the nation.
