Board of Douglas County Commissioners hosts new “Courageous Conversations” discussion series, starting with keeping our children safe online

Online child sexual exploitation or abuse does not discriminate, and these crimes are happening in Douglas County. What can parents, coaches, teachers or other trusted adults do? Start by getting informed during a Live Town Hall at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 25.

The Board of Douglas County Commissioners will host Courageous Conversations – Our Children and the Internet – an informative panel discussion designed to help us all keep children safe while using the Internet, starting at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 25.

The panel of experts includes Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and 23rd Judicial District Attorney representatives from Douglas County’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, nonprofit leaders working in this space, and school officials. The panel will help parents and other trusted adults understand the issue at a local level and provide tips for keeping children of all ages safe online.

How to Attend or Join the Live Town Hall:

“The Internet is a powerful tool, but for our children, it can also be a place where they are uniquely vulnerable to danger,” said Commissioner Kevin Van Winkle. “We must stay one step ahead to protect our most precious resource. Join us and this expert panel to get the facts and tools necessary to keep our kids safe.”
