CDOT crews move wildlife fencing operations to the east side of I-25

After several months of work, the project team is wrapping up fence installation on the west side of Interstate 25 (southbound) between Castle Rock Parkway and Ridgegate Parkway. Crews will continue to install game ramps on the west side in the coming weeks, but the majority of work will shift to the east side of I-25 (northbound).

Installation will begin just south of Castle Rock Parkway and move north toward Ridgegate Parkway through the end of summer and into fall.  The project as a whole, including concrete panel rehabilitation on I-25 (MP 181.75 to 192.75), wildlife fencing and deer guard installation is expected to be complete at the end of October.

Infrastructure to mitigate wildlife crossings on the interstate is an important addition to the area, as it is expected to significantly reduce the number of animal-related crashes. While work is occurring, Colorado Parks and Wildlife recommends drivers stay alert and slow down, particularly at dawn and dusk when wildlife is more active.

Traffic Impacts:

-Daytime working hours will be from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. During these hours, crews will be installing fencing, and there will be no impacts to traffic.

-Nighttime working hours will be from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday night through Friday morning.

-During nighttime hours, motorists can expect double and triple lane closures on north and southbound I-25 for concrete panel replacements. There will be at least one through-lane of traffic open at all times. These lane closures might slow traffic but are not expected to cause significant delays.

Please be mindful of workers and equipment when driving through the work zone at night.
