Thanks to your feedback, your local leaders are making historic investments in new parks and recreation amenities.

To celebrate this historic commitment to public spaces in our community, Douglas County, Castle Rock, Lone Tree and Parker invite you to a free, all-ages, Community Field Day on Thursday, Oct. 2, from 4-6:30 p.m. at Highland Heritage Park.

Bring the family and join your neighbors for games, food trucks, and even an official world record attempt (stay tuned for details). Come learn what these new parks and fields will mean for Douglas County.

Festivities will kick off with a community team huddle featuring famous Colorado mascots from some of your favorite professional teams. 3…2…1 Go Douglas County!

About the event

When: Thursday, Oct. 2, 4 – 6:30 p.m.

Where: Highland Heritage Park (9651 S. Quebec St in Highlands Ranch)

What to expect: Residents of all ages are invited to enjoy sports, activities, food, and entertainment while learning about future recreation facilities. Parking is available on-site. No RSVP required. The huddle and world record attempt are scheduled for 5 p.m.

About Douglas County’s future parks

Since 1994, a voter-approved 0.17% sales and use tax has preserved parks, trails, historic resources, and open spaces across Douglas County, including dedicated funds for cities and towns. In 2022, more than 87% of voters approved extending the tax. A 2024 community survey confirmed residents’ priority for new parks and recreation, leading to the County’s 2025 investments in Castle Rock, Parker, Lone Tree, and Zebulon recreation facilities.
