On July 1, the Board of Douglas County Commissioners spoke at the Douglas County Economic Development Corporation’s Annual Breakfast & Awards along with District Attorney George Brauchler, Sheriff Darren Weekly and additional representatives from the Douglas County Homeless Initiative.

The event focused on how public safety underpins economic development, and speakers highlighted the vital connections between law enforcement, workforce attraction, business investment and the County’s compassionate and innovative response to homelessness. Their participation underscores the Board’s commitment to fostering regional collaboration and supporting initiatives that bolster both community safety and business confidence.
