Douglas County’s annual comprehensive financial report for the year ending Dec. 31, 2024, was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition for excellence in state and local government financial reporting. In order to be awarded a Certificate of Achievement, a government must publish an easily readable and efficiently organized annual comprehensive financial report. This report must satisfy both generally accepted accounting principles and applicable legal requirements.

A Certificate of Achievement is valid for a period of one year only. We believe that our current annual comprehensive financial report continues to meet the Certificate of Achievement Program’s requirements and we are submitting it to GFOA to determine its eligibility for another certificate.

This award reflects strong internal controls, accountability, and excellent stewardship of public funds.

Douglas County also achieved an S&P AAA Rating in 2025, further proving our commitment to financial transparency and responsibility.

Commissioners officially recognized the Finance team at the Jan. 27 Business meeting and thanked them for their work for the people of Douglas County.
