Thanks to Commissioner advocacy, Louviers to receive $1 million in federal funds through Congresswoman Lauren Boebert
As a direct result of federal engagement by Douglas County Commissioners in Washington D.C., this year, Louviers water users will receive federal help funding infrastructure that’s critical to their community.
“We are committed to ensuring all Douglas County residents are connected to a modern, reliable water system,” said Douglas County Commissioner Abe Laydon. “This funding is a critical step in that process for Louviers.”
On Tuesday, July 22, the full House Appropriations Committee passed a bill including $1 million for a project that will modernize the outdated water system in Louviers, a major win for water infrastructure improvement in the area.
“We are thrilled to see our efforts to collaborate with legislators in Washington pay off,” said Douglas County Commissioner George Teal. “These federal funds will be instrumental in modernizing an outdated water system in our community. This project could not be accomplished by Louviers alone.”
The Louviers Water & Sanitation District Drinking Water Distribution Replacement project will support the replacement of approximately 12,000 feet of aging galvanized steel pipe, 86 service lines, and 15 fire hydrants in Louviers. The existing system is deteriorated and undersized, posing risks to water quality and fire protection.
This investment will provide residents with cleaner drinking water, increase system reliability, and enable better fire flow capacity. The improvements will also support regional efforts to enhance drinking water and wastewater infrastructure across Douglas County.
“These funds mean more than just an opportunity to ensure clean water and fire protection in Louviers,” said Douglas County Commissioner Kevin Van Winkle. “These funds are an investment in the health, well-being, and future of our County.”
The funding was included in the Fiscal Year 2026 Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Bill.
Each year, local governments can apply for funding through the offices of their Congressional Representative. In 2025, Douglas County requested and advocated for funding through Congresswoman Lauren Boebert for projects to improve water infrastructure and sustainability in our community.
As individual appropriations bills containing Douglas County’s funding requests are released by the Appropriations Committees and move through the process, Douglas County will continue to provide transparency and updates about these potential federal funds.
