An exploratory committee, including those directly impacted by the May 7, 2019, STEM School shooting, will soon assemble for the first time to begin the process of evaluating and determining how the Douglas County community may best memorialize Kendrick Castillo who was killed during the incident.

John and Maria Castillo have accepted the invitation to inform the process leading to the most meaningful approach to memorializing their son and his sacrifice.

The Committee is expected to meet up to four times during the next four to six weeks to discuss a range of possible memorialization locations and methods; evaluation of options; followed by selection and implementation.
