Help choose regional transportation projects

Denver Regional Council of Governments seeks input on grant applications by July 20

Posted on July 7, 2022 2022News and EventsTransportation

How should state and federal funding for transportation projects be used? Your feedback matters.

The Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) is responsible for selecting projects using a combination of state and federal funding, and the organization wants your feedback before selecting projects through its annual Transportation Improvement Program.

Use DRCOG’s interactive map to explore project proposals and provide your feedback. Project information is available for proposed projects located throughout the Denver Metro Area; and public comments on the various project applications are due by Wednesday, July 20.

Douglas County has requested funding for three projects:

Colorado Boulevard Bike-Ped Bridge over C-470: funding would allow for the design of a new bridge to carry bicyclist and pedestrian over C-470 along the east side of Colorado Boulevard and complete missing sidewalk located between Siskin Avenue and Canyon Ranch Road in Highlands Ranch.

C-470 Trail Bike-Ped Bridge over Broadway: funding would allow for the design of a grade separation to increase safety for bicyclists and pedestrians at the C-470 Trail crossing with Broadway Boulevard in Highlands Ranch.

Additionally, the County is seeking funding assistance to advance an Integrated Transit & Multimodal Feasibility Study.

Municipalities within Douglas County – Castle Pines, Castle Rock, Littleton, Lone Tree and Parker – have collectively submitted a total of eight additional project applications requesting funding assistance from DRCOG. These projects are detailed along with Douglas County’s proposals on the DRCOG interactive map.

The Denver Regional Council of Governments is an association of local governments and regional agencies committed to protecting and enhancing the quality of life in the Denver metropolitan area.

Among many other important functions, DRCOG serves as the region’s Metropolitan Planning Organization. MPOs coordinate regional transportation planning to address important regional needs through the Regional Transportation Plan and distribute funds to transportation projects through the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) project selection process.  Learn more on their website,
