Are you a Douglas County resident who’s passionate about our rural heritage, agriculture, western sports, youth exhibits and quality entertainment?

Your passion and knowledge of agriculture and western heritage – paired with a background in large-event management, accounting/finance, and/or a strong network of resources helpful to the production of a large-scale community event – may position you as the next member of the Douglas County Fair Board.

If you meet these criteria, have a strong work ethic and have a flexible schedule to allow for weekday activities, you are encouraged to apply for one of three open seats. Online applications will be accepted through March 5, 2024.

The Fair Board, appointed by the Board of County Commissioners, comprises 21 volunteer members who represent a vibrant community tradition. Board members are responsible for overseeing the annual Douglas County Fair and Rodeo, including 4-H support.

Board members are expected to attend a regularly scheduled monthly meeting held at 6:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month and participate in two committees, twice each month.

Committees include marketing, entertainment, guest services, livestock sale, rodeo and show management.

Those who wish to serve on the Fair Board should be available 8-10 hours per week, and extensive hours during the Fair and Rodeo – this year from July 26 – Aug. 4.

For more information, please contact the Douglas County Commissioners’ Office at 303-660-7401 or [email protected].
