You are, or likely know, a current or former service member and have immense pride in their service. Our Veterans are always looking out for us. Now, we can give something back to these men and women who are the backbone of our county and our nation.
That’s why Douglas County Commissioner George Teal, the Douglas County Veteran Service Office, and the leadership of other Veteran-focused organizations in Douglas County, including Castle Rock Veterans of Foreign Wars, Douglas County Veterans Monument Foundation and Castle Rock American Legion created the new Heroes Hall Foundation, dedicated to building the Douglas County Heroes Hall.
At its April 8 Business Meeting, the Board of Douglas County Commissioners approved the Heroes Hall Lease Agreement, allowing the Foundation to continue moving forward with plans to fundraise and eventually construct Heroes Hall.
“On active duty, we were like a family. And then, that connection is gone,” said Commissioner George Teal, an Army Veteran of Operation Desert Storm and Operation Pacific Haven. “Our Veterans need this space to reconnect. You can help make it happen.”

The Heroes Hall will be a gathering place for our local Veterans to meet and enjoy the camaraderie they once experienced on active duty. It consolidates the support functions of the founding organizations, which can help Veterans receive additional assistance and support. Furthermore, it allows Veterans to pursue community engagement and advocate for Veteran causes. The Heroes Hall building will include event space and a conference center in a 14,000-square-foot building with a 7,000-square-foot basement.
At its Jan. 14 Business Meeting, the Board of Douglas County Commissioners approved a $400,000 contract to DLH Architecture for their design service. Now, private donors, business leaders and the generosity of the community is needed to help raise an additional $15 million to complete this project. Please visit the Heroes Hall webpage to learn how you can get involved.
